Hopewell Mound Group is a group of Morris Township, Washington County, Pennsylvania. The site is a park before it was acquired by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission. It is home to one of the best preserved prehistoric Native American earthworks in the northeastern United States. The Mound Group consists of five mounds, two circular enclosures, and six parallel-walled areas. The walls and mounds were constructed using hand tools and were likely used for ceremonial purposes. The site was occupied by the Hopewell people from around 200 BC to 500 AD. The Hopewell people were known for their advanced agriculture, elaborate burial practices, and trade networks, and their influence can be seen in areas throughout the Midwest and Eastern United States.
